Green Cleaning Items that you Should Always Have in the House

There are many things that you should have in order that your clean be efficient and effective, and they can all be bought easily. These products are all made from plastics however, and are extremely bad for the environment, so it is often best to source sustainable solutions. Even if you cannot find a biodegradable sponge, you may well be able to find one that is more durable than the usual corner shop one that will mean that you do not have to buy another for a little longer. This is a good way to cut down on your environmental damage as well as saving yourself money. wooden brushes and cotton flannels over plastics is also a great way to reduce your carbon footprint, so have a good think about where the things that you buy are from, and how they may affect the planet in different ways.

Looking in your cupboard, you will likely have a range of different cleaners for different surfaces. You should have a look on the back of each one to see what kind of harmful chemicals there are in them, as this is the kind of thing that can contribute to your bad health, as well as damaging eco systems that are attached to the water table that our houses are drained in to. Replace any dangerous chemicals with green ones, so that you know your household is being responsible at least. Using natural household products like vinegar, lemon and baking powder will give you all of the cleaning power that you need, so consider some of the cleaning recipes that are out there for your daily cleaning.

Making rags from old clothes and towels means that you do not have to buy new ones. The durability of these fabrics means that you can pop them in the wash when they are too dirty, and reduce the number of disposable cleaning items that you buy. This will both reduce your costs in general as well as reducing the amount of waste that you produce. Paper towels are obviously a great source of issues in terms of deforestation, so if you are using reusable materials, you can be safe in the knowledge that you are helping to retain some of the earth’s lungs in the form of the great forests of the planet.

Be wary of over using water, as this can be a real issue. It may feel like we have water in abundance as a race, but in fact it is one of nature’s most precious resources, and is extremely scarce in certain parts of the world. For this reason you should never leave a tap running, and always use as little water as possible if you can whilst cleaning in the home. Lather up your products over the marks and dirt that you are trying to remove, and allow them to do their job before rinsing them off, as this will increase the rate by which they get rid of tough dirt and stains, as well as reducing the water that you use by only having to do the job once.
