How to Clean Office Furniture

Best Ways to Keep Your Office Furniture Clean

So much goes on in an office on a daily basis. Not only is it a place of employment for many people, but it is also a place where people spend most of their days. It is therefore an easy place to get dirty. When people are too busy tapping away on computers and laptops, no one has the time or the energy to wash dishes at the end of the day. This means that office spaces can often be left neglected, making them unattractive to look at, and awful to work in.

Offices need to be clean for more than one reason. The main reason is of course hygiene. Dirt is caused by dust and microorganisms that accumulate on surfaces, which can eventually become pathogenic and cause illness and trigger allergic reactions. So of course, cleaning will eliminate the chance of this occurring, keeping yourself and your employees safe.

Another reason you should clean your office on a regular basis is to keep it looking more attractive. You may ask yourself why an office needs to be attractive but you’ll be surprised to know that the cleanliness of working space has an effect on the employees in it. Not only has it been proven that employees work better in clean atmospheres, but it has also been proven that employees tend to be a lot happier in cleaner, better-looking environments.

Finally, you may have expensive machinery at your office. Keeping an office, and the equipment in it clean will preserve all of the items, allowing you to keep them for as long as possible and saving you money on having to replace them on a regular basis.

There are many cleaning companies that specialise in office cleaning services, so hiring the appropriate service is always an option for you. However, if you are keen on saving the money and would rather do it yourself, then this article will give you the guidance you desire.

Offices often have a lot of wood – desks, tables and shelves are common items made of wood and require proper care if you wish to maintain them for as long as possible. If your items are made of natural wood, ensure that you do not use any harsh chemicals or detergents. You may wish to purchase a natural wood polish or cleaner. Otherwise, a solution of warm water and a little washing-up liquid will do the trick.

If you have metal filling cabinets or desks (if you do not have wooden ones), there is not much that you need to do. In fact, the only thing you need to give them a wipe down on a regular basis using a solution of water and washing up liquid.

Leather items commonly include office chairs and sofas in the common room/kitchen etc. Once again, giving them a scrub down with simply water and washing up liquid will keep them looking brilliant for longer. You may wish to use a stain-resistant spray, but this is completely optional.

Keeping a vacuum at the office will always come in handy. Vacuum the surfaces on a daily basis if possible, if not, a few times a week to ensure that the floor is thoroughly cleaned. At this point, it is also recommended that you vacuum any upholstery or fabric furniture e.g. couches.

A clean office looks, smells and feels great, meaning that you and your employees will enjoy being there a lot more than usual. Happy employees are hardworking employees and that is exactly what you want from a workforce.
