Aldgate is the area in Central London. It encompasses the E1 and EC3 postcode areas and it acts as the eastern gateway around the City of London. It is thought that similar gate has existed since the Roman Occupation and has been rebuilt multiple times over the years. The oldest synagogue in London is located here since 1698. Most of these restaurants do not sell alcohol, as they are Muslim run enterprises. The area has recently gained a name for its many art and fashion exhibitions that are held near Brick Lane. This curry capital of the United Kingdom is also where one will find numerous well known night clubs and other nearby attractions include the Great London Mosque and Christ Church in Spitalfields.
